LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima police have released the name of the victim in the Black Friday arson fire on Ewing Avenue.

According to a release from the Lima Police Department, the deceased female pulled from the home was 38-year-old Jazlyn Darby of Lima. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate her cause of death was asphyxiation from the fire.

The Lima Fire Department responded to a call at 410 Ewing Avenue on Friday, Nov. 28, around 8:30 p.m., reporting a house fire with someone still inside. Three of the four occupants escaped, identified as Anthony and Josephus Petaway and Darby’s 21-month-old child with Josephus.

Authorities said that at the scene, they were told one of the occupants allegedly used an accelerant to start the fire. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are awaiting the results of the toxicology report before making further conclusions.
