March 27, 2024 Press Release from the City of Lima: For the 36th consecutive year, the City of Lima is being recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. This award highlights Lima’s ongoing commitment to effective urban forest management, and that planting and caring for trees is a priority for our community.
To be eligible for the recognition, a community must maintain a tree board or department, have a tree care ordinance, dedicate an annual community forestry budget, and host an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
During the last week of April, the City of Lima will host a tree planting ceremony and proclamation to celebrate Arbor Day 2024 with the location to be revealed in the coming weeks.
The City of Lima in conjunction with the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District also continues to offer the Tree Rebate Program, which encourages Lima residents to plant trees on their property through a 50% rebate to eligible participants.
