The Lima Rotary Club got a lesson in alternative learning at their meeting Monday afternoon.
Mindy Schulz with West Central Learning Academy and the Allen County Educational Service Center talked about the services that they provide for students in the area, giving them options that are different from the traditional high school setting. Students that are enrolled can work at the school or at home, and often take courses online, giving them the chance to find what works best with their learning needs.
"It’s just different for them, and something that meet the needs of students who are risk - if they dropped out of high school, if they have health issues, if they’ve been bullied at their traditional school, they might be gifted, the needs are varied," said Schulz, who is the superintendent for West Central Learning Academy, and the executive director of the ACESC.
