The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District hosted the life science lessons for students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Various topics were on the table, including living versus non-living, energy transfer, the food chain, and even worms. Not only can the science lessons be brought back to the classroom, but they will also help prepare students for field trips planned in the spring.

"We have our field trips in the fall and in the spring, so some of these are a frontloading type of information so the kids will be ready when they come to us in the spring, and then, we also do a review type portion for the kids that were with us in the fall, so it's really beneficial as a retired teacher: repetition, repetition, repetition," commented Doreen Martin, a naturalist at Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District.

The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will continue the science lessons on Wednesday as well.
