The local American Red Cross chapter is sending help to Texas this week as flood waters have devastated the area.
The Lone Star State has experienced numerous storms this year displacing thousands of residents and devastating homes and businesses. Thursday, volunteers from the Lima chapter will be joining the relief efforts. Group members will provide basic training to volunteers based on skill set, interest, and community needs. The Red Cross says partnerships for the relief effort and housing are made with both national and local organizations and religious groups.
Officials say they're always looking for volunteers to join in the relief work. Anyone interested in joining the organization may visit the local chapter's office or go to redcross.org.
