LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – You could be a superhero simply by showing you can save a life through blood donation.

The American Red Cross will hold a Superhero Blood Drive in Lima on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Allen County Chapter House. People are needed to ensure hospitals, both locally and nationally, have the blood supplies necessary to help patients. Every day, volunteer blood donors are needed to help save lives.

“The need for blood is constant. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and at the American Red Cross, we encourage everyone who is eligible to come out and help save potentially more than one life with their blood donation. At the American Red Cross, we think that all of our blood donors are superheroes. It is a very generous thing to do, but on August 19, we are providing a special incentive for those who choose to donate. While supplies last, we have a superhero t shirt that we are providing to donors who present that day,” said Jennifer Sexton, executive director of the Indiana American Red Cross Northwest Chapter.

The blood drive will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Allen County Chapter House, 610 S. Collett St., Lima. Appointments can be made at www.RedCrossBlood.org using the sponsor code superhero.
