LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Spring-cleaning season is underway, and city officials are giving residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items during the Mayor’s Spring Clean Up beginning Saturday, May 9.
Seven locations throughout the city will have dumpsters available for residents to drop off items that have been piling up around their properties. City officials say several cleanup weekends will be held to help residents improve the appearance of their neighborhoods and properly dispose of materials that are difficult to remove through regular trash collection. Lima Neighborhood Specialist Marcell King said the program gives residents a convenient option for getting rid of unwanted items.
“It will allow them to get rid of any unwanted items that they don't need, things that they've been trying to get rid of, things that are not being picked up by some of our companies that are picking up their trash,” King said. “This gives them an opportunity to get rid of those items, especially tires that are unwanted and also the brush.”
Lima officials say brush and tires will only be accepted at the 900 S. Collett St. location during Saturday’s Mayor’s Spring Clean Up. Residents are limited to 10 tires per household.
