Medical marijuana dispensary license awarded to Wapakoneta location

The Ohio Board of Pharmacy has licensed 56 locations that can sell medical marijuana once it becomes legal this fall.

There was only one location locally that was awarded for a dispensary license at 502 North Dixie Highway in Wapakoneta. This dispensary will serve district made up by Allen, Auglaize, and Putnam counties. The location is currently an office building on the east side of the city. The state will give the stores six months to meet state operation requirements. The next closest dispensaries will be in Bowling Green or Marion in Northwest Ohio. Three of 31 geographic districts won't have dispensaries, including one made up of Mercer, Van Wert, and Paulding counties, where no application was filed.

Ohio's 2016 medical marijuana law says the program must begin September 8. Also Monday, the board launched a toll-free medical marijuana helpline for patients, caregivers, and health professionals. The number is 833-464-6627.
