MERCER COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Mendon man gets 20 years in prison for having sexual contact with a child.
57-year-old Michael Schmidt pleaded guilty to four counts of gross sexual imposition and got five years in prison for each count. His plea was part of a deal, where other charges including rape were dropped or reduced. His trial was scheduled to start today. According to the indictment, the alleged offenses took place between January and May of 2021. The victim was under 13 years old at the time. He was also ordered to register as a tier 3 sex offender.
