CELINA, Ohio (WLIO) - The Mercer County District Library has kicked off its first book sale of the year.
Proceeds from the book sale will help cover expenses for the children’s, teen and adult summer reading programs, as well as other library initiatives.
Inside the library’s Book Barn in Celina, bookworms sifted through thousands of novels, children’s books and even DVDs. Proceeds from the book sale will help cover expenses for the children’s, teen and adult summer reading programs, as well as other library initiatives. The sale also gives families a chance to find that special book — not only to create memories but also to support children’s growth.
“I’ve been a reader all my life, and for children, stressing the importance of reading to them helps them so much more in school. If you don't like watching tv and you have books, you're never bored,” says Jean Shaw, Book Barn Operator, Mercer County District Library.
If you missed Friday’s sale, you’re in luck. The event continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, visitors can purchase a blue library bag for $3 and fill it with adult and children’s books, as well as DVDs and CDs. Additional book sales are scheduled for the last weekend in July and the first weekend in October.
