LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A 28-year veteran of the Lima Fire Department was named the 2023 Firefighter of the Year. Miles Conrad was recognized by the Lima Noon Sertoma Club during their last meeting. Conrad says he had wanted to be a firefighter since he was a child. And calls working with the men and women of the Lima fire department a blessing from God, because of their commitment and dedication to the job.
“To work for the Lima Fire Department, is an honor,” says Miles Conrad, Lima Sertoma Club’s Firefighter of the Year. “To be able to represent a group of men and women that come together in a time of need under every circumstance and try and leave a situation better than it was when you arrived.”
Conrad says the support of his wife Kelly and his family has helped him continue his service to Lima for nearly three decades.
“It’s still exciting, it’s still fun,” adds Conrad. “I enjoy it, I enjoy the people that I work with. I learn so much, even today. It’s just been an amazing profession, a demanding profession but absolutely amazing.”
Conrad is the 52nd person to be named Lima Noon Sertoma Club’s Firefighter of the Year.
