ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Multiple fire departments battled a second-alarm fire and cold temperatures in rural Allen County this afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, firefighters responded to 2929 South Sunderland Road for reports of a residential fire.
Just before 1 o'clock, Spencerville firefighters responded to 2929 South Sunderland Road for reports of a residential fire. Upon arrival, fire was coming out of the walls and attic with smoke pouring out from the roof.
A husband and wife were home at the time of the fire. The wife noticed the smoke inside the home and woke her husband from the bedroom, where they escaped unharmed. The Red Cross has been called to assist them following the fire.
