LIMA, OHIO (WLIO) - A Lima bar is helping the family of one of their employees who are recovering from a deadly fire.
Besides paying for his funeral and other expenses, Alexis and her husband James lived next door, and the fire destroyed their van and the heat damaged their home.
Neon Moon Saloon is holding a fundraiser for their bar manager, Alexis Shuler, and her family, who lost her father-in-law, 64-year-old James Shuler, to a house fire on October 16th. Besides paying for his funeral and other expenses, Alexis and her husband James lived next door, and the fire destroyed their van and the heat damaged their home. So, the bar is helping them out with a fundraiser with raffles, live music, and silent auction items for adults and kids that were donated by businesses and people in the community.
“Lima definitely made me very proud with the donations we received and everybody that stepped up to try and help a family in need in town. We have a silent auction going on with multiple items, including a gas fireplace. We have a tennis racket guitar that was handmade. We have a guitar, multiple signs out, multiple gift certificates,” says Kelci Scott, owner of Neon Moon.
If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Shuler family, you can drop it off at Neon Moon Saloon or go to their Facebook page.
“Everything was very unexpected. Very unexpected. It definitely gives you a fuzzy feeling inside seeing all the help and all the things that people donated. Strangers, complete strangers stepping up to help out. It’s very shocking, and we are thankful,” says Alexis Shuler.
The auction items, drawings, and live music continue until 9 p.m. Saturday night. If you would like to make a monetary donation to the Shuler family, you can drop it off at Neon Moon Saloon at 717 N. Jackson St. Lima or go to their Facebook page.
