Nurse at Lima Memorial Hospital receives DAISY Award

She has dedicated her life to helping others and Thursday she was recognized for her years of service.

Shelly Kaufman, a registered nurse in the emergency center at Lima Memorial Health Care System was speechless today as she was surprised by hospital administration and co-workers. The DAISY Foundation awarded her the hospital's first DAISY Award for extraordinary nurses. Kaufman has cared for thousands of patients in her career and says everyone of them have left their mark on her. Administrators say Kaufman is a wealth of knowledge and is an asset to the hospital. She always goes the extra mile to assure the patient receives the best care possible.

The DAISY Foundation is out of California and established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died of an auto immune disease in 1999. DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.
