Scott Keber

VAN WERT, OH (WLIO) - An Ohio City man has been found incompetent to stand trial for a string of arsons in Van Wert County.

In the spring, Scott Keber was indicted by a Van Wert grand jury on multiple aggravated arson and arson charges. But after a mental evaluation, he was ruled incompetent with no chance of being redeemed. But since his mental state is not bad enough to be institutionalized, Van Wert County Sheriff's Office says the charges will be dropped and he will be released.

In the indictment, Keber was charged with setting fires on 8 different dates, some of the dates lined up with four barn fires that Van Wert law enforcement and the state fire marshal's office were investigating. The blazes caused heavy property damage around Ohio City along with another barn in Rockford.
