Ohio hunters got 70,118 deer during week long gun season

COLUMBUS, OH (WLIO) - Hunters harvested 70,118 deer during the weeklong gun hunting season that ran from November 27th through December 3rd. That is nearly 2,000 fewer deer than the same hunting period from last year. There were 390,000 deer permits issued through December 3rd. Gun hunters still have one more chance to get their big buck or doe, with the bonus weekend of December 16th and 17th. A recent report says that hunters generated nearly $2 billion in economic spending in Ohio last year and about five percent of Ohioans take part in hunting.
