Students took a trip down the yellow brick road and came up with some unique interpretations of the classic movie.
The Ohio State Beauty Academy hit the runway for their fall student competition with the theme, “A Night in Oz”. The competition is a good way for the students to think outside the box, instead of performing the regular hairstyles that they do at the academy. 36 of the cosmetology students picked a character from one of the movies based on "The Wizard of Oz", and completely reimagine a look complete with hair, makeup, nails, and costume.
“And they take that character and kind of transform it to whatever they see that character as. So whether its the dark side of it, whether it’s a pleasant pretty side of it, it’s ultimately up to them how they want to twist it around and how they want to display their showcase,” said Ashlee Johnson, Admissions Coordinator of Ohio State Beauty Academy.
The students were judged on creativity and execution by a panel of judges for the different categories like hair and makeup.
