LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Community members had the opportunity to learn about mental and behavioral health resources available in the region during a Mental Health Scavenger Hunt hosted by Ohio State Lima.
The event brought together agencies from Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties to help connect residents with services and support programs available in their communities. Families could visit booths from participating agencies, where children took part in activities while adults learned more about services including equine therapy, suicide prevention and self-motivation programs.
“A lot of times people need services and they don't know what's available in the communities around them or how close resources actually are. So having the opportunity to learn about the resources in a fun way, get kids engaged, adults engaged, to really make it active and provide awareness and education,” says Elizabeth Osborne, Behavioral Health Specialist, Ohio State Lima.
Osborne said using a scavenger hunt format also helps reduce the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health.
