LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Lima firefighters responded to a house fire just after 2 p.m. Thursday.
Crews said residents had already evacuated the home in the 800 block of Broadway Street, but a dog was still inside. Firefighters were able to safely remove the animal from the home. The Lima Fire Department said the fire was under control within five minutes of crews arriving on scene.
Investigators believe the fire may have started because of a faulty kitchen appliance, but the investigation remains ongoing. Damage to the home is estimated at around $25,000. The American Red Cross was called to assist the residents.
