SHELBY CO., OH (WLIO) – A Shelby County man was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a house fire Wednesday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m., Port Jefferson firefighters were called to 2990 Knoop Johnson Road in southeastern Shelby County. Â A male resident had to be rescued from the home and was taken to Wilson Health for treatment.
His wife, and dog were not home when the fire started. Multiple departments, including Sidney, Fletcher, Rosewood, Casstown, and Joint Township Fire Departments, were called in to assist with water supply and manpower.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire. The Salvation Army and Oliver’s Homemade Ice Cream brought refreshments for the firefighters.
