Toledo Zoo otter pups make public debut

March 27, 2025, Press Release from the Toledo Zoo:

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Zoo is thrilled to announce that its four North American river otter pups are making their public debut tomorrow, Friday, March 28. Guests can now visit the playful otter family—mom Tilly, dad Winston and their pups Sutton, Tallulah, Kaya and Talon—exploring their outdoor habitat in Tembo Trail from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. As always, animal viewing is subject to change as the otters may retreat to their indoor spaces.

Born on Dec. 7, 2024, to longtime Zoo residents Tilly and Winston, the four pups—two males and two females—are already delighting their caregivers and visitors alike. Each pup has developed a unique personality. Kaya is the most adventurous, while Talon tends to be the shyest. Tallulah is a star swimmer and was the first to eat solid foods, whereas Sutton is known for being the best napper.

Since birth, the Zoo’s dedicated animal care team has closely monitored the pups, ensuring their health and development. All four have successfully learned to swim, transitioned to solid foods including fish, shrimp and clams, and completed their first introductions to dad Winston.

North American river otters are known for their playful and energetic nature, making spring break the perfect time to visit and witness these new additions in action.

Guests can enjoy unlimited visits to see the otters with a Zoo membership. A 15% discount is available for new or renewed memberships with code OTTERS25 at checkout. Membership includes free admission, early access hours, exclusive discounts and more.

Plan your visit today and meet the otters at toledozoo.org.
