PANDORA, OH (WLIO) - A church took the time on Thursday night to thank their local veterans for all they've done with a free homecooked meal.

The Rebecca Circle women's group of the Pandora United Methodist Church invited vets and their spouses to their annual banquet. Food was donated by local businesses like Ted's Market and nine volunteers spent the afternoon preparing the food. After eating, patriotic songs and poems were performed by some community members and kids.

The ladies have been hosting the banquet for over ten years to give back to veterans in the Pandora-Gilboa school district, and to remind them every November that the community is still thankful for their sacrifice and service.

"They really appreciate it. We always get 'thank you' cards or whatever afterward, or they just say they're grateful that somebody else is thinking about them for their service. I think that's important, that we can honor them for the service that they have done for our country," said Pat Basinger, chairwoman of the Rebecca Circle.

The women's group also volunteers their time for several church projects throughout the year, like decorating for the holidays of the annual garage sale.
