The Lima man indicted on 52 counts including rape and attempted rape, waived his right to a speedy trial.
A motion for continuance was filed in the case of 62-year-old Ronald Payne. Payne is being charged with rape, three counts of attempted rape, 12 counts of gross sexual imposition, two counts of trafficking in persons and 17 counts of using a minor in nudity-oriented material, among other charges. His defense asked for more time to look over the extensive amount of evidence in the case.
If convicted on all 52 counts, Payne could face nearly 250 years in prison. A trial date has been set for October third.
