Construction is entering another phase at a multi-million dollar grade separation project on Lima's east side.

Starting Tuesday, September 3rd, Bellefontaine Avenue will be closed to traffic between Calumet Avenue and Shawnee Street for one week. The Indiana & Ohio Railway will be putting in permanent track at the rail overpass on East Elm Street. The temporary shoe-fly track will be removed and construction of the underpass will continue.

"Once that's complete, the contractor will continue with the rest of the structure, there's some wing walls on the west side and then some additional dirt and street to construct underneath," commented Kirk Niemeyer, Lima City Engineer.

Niemeyer says the construction of the roundabout will follow the completion of the underpass. Drivers are asked to use North, High, and Kibby streets as alternate routes during those seven days.
