President Donald Trump and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison keyed in on Pratt Industries investment into Wapakoneta and the United States as a whole. Billionaire owner Anthony Pratt, introduced the two leaders, talking about the size of the local investment and the quality of the local workforce.
“And the hard-working patriots of Ohio, he is very happy,” says President Trump. “They said’ This force’, I said ‘How are they?’ I said “are they as good as I think.’ He said ‘Even better’.”
The president also talked about his administration goals of making America more attractive to foreign investment.
“We lowered our business tax, from the highest anywhere in the developed world,” added President Trump To one that extremely competitive, even really considered pretty low, meaning a lot of companies from Australia and other places are coming over.”
Prime Minister Morrison talked about how a commitment, made by Pratt to President Trump turned into reality and how the two leaders shared a belief in the importance of jobs.
“The President and I are here today because we believe in jobs,” added Morrison. “We believe in the way that jobs transform lives. Jobs give people choices, people are raising families doing the right thing, building their communities, putting their kids through school, helping their neighbors, putting aside money for their retirement. Jobs is what creates those choices.”
Local economic development leaders say Sunday’s visit shows the fruits of their labor, beginning with the development of the shovel ready site.
“I remember the state talking about, how the goal was to create industrial parks where you would have projects that would have a regional economy shifting effect,” says Greg Myers Ex. Dir of WEADC. “I believe this project here at Pratt is one of those. We don’t believe this is the end of what Mr. Pratt plans to invest here in Ohio.”
This was the 2nd visit that President Trump has made to our area his year.
