Lima Rotary Club invited one of the area's newest university presidents to speak at Monday's meeting.
Dr. Jane Wood, president of Bluffton University, was in Lima to speak about the future of the university. She touched on the past and present of the school then moved into how she and the cabinet will proceed towards the future. Wood said the last strategic plan ended in 2015 and a new one will begin planning in fall 2019. Dr. Wood said she and the cabinet created a plan for the short term to focus on momentum makers, strong points of the university. She detailed nine total in the categories of academics, athletics, and student engagement.
"We will just be talking more about them, certainly on our web page and our social media, letting people know more about the exciting athletic events, student engagement events, and also the academic events that are happening," said Dr. Jane Wood.
Dr. Wood also mentioned that construction on the new Knowlton Science Center should be breaking ground sometime in the next year.
