OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) — The 171st Putnam County Fair is officially underway, bringing a week of food, rides, entertainment and 4-H activities to residents and visitors from across the area.

The fair opened with the traditional ringing of the bell, marking the start of a weeklong celebration that offers activities for all ages throughout the fairgrounds. Attendees can enjoy a variety of fair foods, carnival rides and attractions, while local 4-H members showcase their hard work and projects.

For members of the Putnam County Fair Board, the event represents months of preparation and planning, and they are encouraging the public to come experience everything the county has to offer.

“All it makes me feel great seeing it come off this way. I mean, it it takes a whole year to plan this and it's just one exciting event. New and exciting this year. We have drag racing coming to the fair. Never had that before,” said Matt Maag, president of the Putnam County Fair Board.

Tuesday will feature Kids Day at the Fair, with children younger than 16 receiving free admission until 4 p.m. Other signature events throughout the week include harness racing, drag racing, truck and tractor pulls, and a demolition derby.
