OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) - A Lima man stood before a Putnam County judge for his sentencing of a murder last year.

27-year-old Konner Dunklee was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole by Putnam County Common Pleas Court Judge Keith Schierloh.

The mother and father of Farrah Croninger each asked the judge to give Dunklee the maximum sentence.

April 18th marks exactly one year since the fatal shooting of Farrah Croninger of Deshler and the shooting of Michael Kitchen at Kitchen Enterprises Trucking Company in Leipsic. In his change of plea hearing, Dunklee said he used to work at the company and he brought a hand gun to the business and shot Croninger, and during a struggle with Kitchen, he ended up shooting him. Dunklee fled the scene and was later arrested in Allen County.

Now, nearly a year after the death of their daughter, the mother and father of Farrah Croninger each asked the judge to give Dunklee the maximum sentence. The judge said he sensed no real genuine remorse from Dunklee.

Dunklee talked about what happened during the incident:

"I also find myself at a loss for words knowing that I'm responsible for the events of April 18th," said Dunklee. "Aside from my mental health that day, I have no excuses for my actions. I don't know why I did what I did, but I know I hurt a lot of people that day."

"I hope that they can go forward and hopefully remember all the good times they had," said Judge Schierloh. "But for you, you'll spend the rest of your life in prison, and I think that's more than appropriate."

Dunklee originally plead not guilty by reason of insanity in May 2024, but was later found to be competent to stand trial and agreed to change his plea to guilty on the charges of murder and felonious assault.
