OTTAWA, Ohio (WLIO) – Putnam County deputies were involved in a chase Monday morning that ended in a farmer’s field on the east side of the county.
According to the sheriff’s office, just before 12:30 a.m. Monday, deputies were serving an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Joseph Saldana at a residence in the 9000 block of Road 5-F.
Saldana got in his vehicle and took off. The chase moved from the roadway to farm fields as Saldana drove off road. His vehicle became disabled in a field near Gilboa, where he was taken into custody without further incident. He is currently in the Putnam County jail.

On 09-15-2025, 12:21 A.M., Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office were attempting to serve an arrest warrant on Joseph Saldana, 39, at 9977 Road 5-F, Leipsic, Ohio. Before Deputies could apprehend Mr. Saldana, he jumped into his vehicle and fled the residence. Deputies attempted to stop Mr. Saldana, but a pursuit began. Mr. Saldana led Deputies on and off-road, and through farmers' fields. Mr. Saldana's vehicle stopped in a farmer's field in the 10,000 block of Road 3 after becoming disabled, near the Village of Gilboa. Mr. Saldana was taken into custody without further incident. Assisting agencies were Putnam County E.M.S., Gilboa Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and DAB Towing.
