Tennis balls were flying through the air at the second annual Open Doubles Charity Tennis Tournament.Â
The fundraiser worked to raise money to buy new sports wheelchairs for people in the wheelchair tennis program; last year they were able to purchase six tennis sports chairs. Â The funds also go towards expanding tennis opportunities for handicapped athletes in Midwest Ohio.
Being able to help those people in need is what drives the fundraising staff to reach their goal.
"There's a great need for wheelchairs and for the kids to get into the wheelchairs," said Greg Boyd, Community Tennis Manager for the U.S. Tennis Association. "It's amazing how the Westwood has stepped up too, this is the second year for the fundraiser and they're above and beyond expectations every year."
The goal for the fundraiser this year was $12,000.
