Students at Marimor celebrated Read Across America Day Thursday morning.
About 21 students participated in the reading activity, which was called "Camp Read-a-Lot". Since Thursday was Dr. Seuss's birthday, several of the books read were written by Dr. Seuss. The school says that this is the first time that they've put on something like this, and it was a way to celebrate reading and how several of the students already love to read.
"They do love books already, and they are excited about reading," said Peggy Cockerell, who is the Director of Education of the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities "Our students learn on different levels of abilities, but we have some students that are pretty good readers here."
Your Hometown Stations' own Jessica Gavin also took time to read to the kids.
