Local business leaders hearing about how the era of long term employees may be coming to an end during Friday morning's Real American Sunrise event hosted by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce. Spherion of Lima CEO, Karen Grothouse, explaining that the current workforce is becoming a blend of full-time employees and contingent employees that may only work a few days to a few years with more than one job.

"We have a talent shortage in our workforce, so if you want to have your workforce full, you may have to look into somebody that's interested in doing a side hustle or a side gig, and allow them to work with your workforce and have a blended workforce, it's okay," explained Karen Grothouse, CEO of Spherion of Lima.

According to an emerging workforce study, the use of contingent workers has increased in the last 9 years from 6.6% to 29%.
