Real Money, Real World

7th and 8th grade students from St. Gerard and St. Rose are getting a taste of the real world

Students participated in the "Real Money, Real World" financial literacy simulation. The simulation requires students pay their bills, student loans, childcare services and decide what they can afford based off of their chosen career.

According to 4H Educator, Kelly Coble, "I do think that it does make a difference for them a lot of them say at the end that they don't realize how much their parents pay in food and clothing and a lot of them do say that they do go home and thank their parents for feeding them and giving them clothes."

The goal of the program is to allow students to realize the real cost of living and help them to begin thinking about a career path.Â
