ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Travel for the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to break records even prior to the pandemic.

Record number of people expected on the roads this Thanksgiving Holiday

AAA say 90% of those travelers will be going by car, 7% by air, and the remaining 3% by some other means of transportation.

For the first time, AAA is including the Tuesday before and the Monday after Thanksgiving in the official holiday travel count. Eighty million people nationwide are expected to travel 50 miles or more from their home. AAA say 90% of those travelers will be going by car, 7% by air, and the remaining 3% by some other means of transportation. But no matter how you travel, remember to be prepared.

Lima AAA manager Cindy Nelson says, “Make sure you are leaving extra time for wherever you are heading and plan early. It's OK to be late; the turkey will still be there.”

Nelson says to check your car fluids and tire pressure before you leave. AAA also reports that gas prices are lower this Thanksgiving than last year, which could be a catalyst to more travel.
