LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Ohio State Lima and Rhodes State College are looking for some local businesses to help get their students ready for the workforce.
They will be holding their mock interview days on March 26th and 27th. Students will be taking part in virtual interviews over Zoom with real businesses, and then get feedback on what they could do better as they are going for their first job after college or for an internship while they are finishing their degree. Ohio State Lima and Rhodes are looking for more local employers to help conduct the mock interviews. The experience could be beneficial to both the student and the business in the end.
"We are opening this up to local employers to really give them a chance to increase their presence and visibility for our student population," says Rachel Richardson, Career Development Manager at OSU Lima. "Knowing the growing workforce and in-demand workforce, so, this gives regional and local businesses a chance to interact with our student population, who are soon going to be entering the workforce."
"These are 30-minute interviews but allow our professional partners to practice asking interview questions to these students. Providing them with valuable feedback, that will be beneficial to them as they are preparing for internship and full-time jobs," says Krista Richardson, Director of Workforce and Career Development at Rhodes State College.

February 24, 2024 Press Release from Rhodes State College and Ohio State Lima: The Ohio State University and Rhodes State College are recruiting local employers to participate in their annual Mock Interview Days. Interviews will be held virtually via Zoom from 9 a.m. -2 p.m., Tuesday March 26, and from 11 a.m. - 4p.m., Wednesday March 27, for students and alumni.
The interviews are schedule to last 30 minutes allowing volunteers to ask questions and coach students through the interview process with valuable feedback on what they are doing well and areas they need to improve upon before interviews for internships and jobs. This opportunity allows employers to provide industry-specific insight to students to strengthen their candidacy within a career field. Additionally, the event allows regional employers a chance to increase their presence and visibility with potential future employees.
Regional employers interested in volunteering their time to help students polish their interviewing skills can register at bit.ly/lima-mock-interviews by Friday, March 8. Volunteers can indicate their availability on one or both days.
Mock Interview Days are coordinated by the career development offices at both Rhodes State College and Ohio State Lima. Between the offices, they serve all students and alumni in all majors from the two institutions.
