LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Several community events coming up this summer were announced at today's Lima Rotary Club meeting.
The first guest speakers provided the Lima Rotary Club with an update on the Greater Lima Region Park & Amphitheater. Recently, they've finished installing a permanent video wall, and the park is now officially open to the public on days when no events are scheduled. The community is also now able to book the Pangle Pavilion for private events.Â
On May 30th at 6 p.m. at the amphitheater, the free curtain call series kicks off with a performance by the Beer Barrel Boys. The Civic Center Foundation also announced a weekend of entertainment to celebrate the venue's first anniversary.
"It's going to be a two-day event, July 26 and July 27. On Friday night, we have a great show; it's called Taylor Shines, and it's a light show to Taylor Swift music. And then on Saturday we will continue the tradition with the Family Fun Festival, so there will be food trucks and activities, free activities for families, and kids, and everyone in the community," explained Carmen Cecala-Wells, director of development at the Civic Center Foundation.
Operation Half Pint also announced their 3rd annual 5K will be held at the Pangle Pavilion on July 27th at 9 a.m. to raise money to continue bringing their tank to community events.
"Basically, this is a volunteer group that kind of started from General Dynamics. And this is a little tank that we take around to parades, and we shoot out t-shirts and stress balls and just have a lot of fun with it. But it does take a lot of money to get it up and running, and we're trying to pay off some debt from getting a trailer," said Melissa Amstutz, race director, Operation Half Pint 5K.
The Greater Lima Region Park & Amphitheater is located at 128 E Spring St, Lima, OH 45801. To see more events coming to the amphitheater, visit https://www.limaciviccenter.com/panglepavilion. To learn more about Operation Half Pint, visit https://operationhalfpint.com/.
