SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - Hundreds in Shawnee Township gathered on Sunday for the first of many new annual traditions. The Shawnee Autumn Jubilee was the first festival thrown by the newly formed 501 3c Shawnee Township Event Planning. Money raised at the event will go towards funding other seasonal festivals for families.
The Shawnee Autumn Jubilee was the first festival thrown by the newly formed 501 3c Shawnee Township Event Planning.
The afternoon included inflatables, pumpkin painting, a cornhole tournament, and even a cook-off where people could decide which Shawnee public service department made the best chili. Township officials say this new tradition is a great way to spend time with and give back to those they serve.
"Shawnee Township needs something other than just one event, which was National Night Out, to bring the community together multiple times a year to kind of reinforce what our community is about and have our public service interact with our citizens. November 16th will be the next event. It's going to be a Christmas tree lighting. In the roundabout we're going to have a Christmas tree that's been donated by Cenovus, and we'll have some other activities that will surround that event. It'll be something similar in atmosphere to what we have here," said Shawnee Township Chief of Police Robert Kohli.
Correction: the tree will be donated by Nutrien instead of Cenovus
