Short in stove believed to be cause of early morning fire

Fire crews were out early to battle a blaze at a home in Monroe Township.

The Cairo Monroe Township Fire Department was called out to 7676 Ramsey Road just after five this morning, when the homeowner found that her kitchen was on fire. The kitchen had a lot of fire damage, but the rest of the home suffered smoke and water damage. Fire officials believe the cause of the fire was a short in the stove. Because of the extensive damage the house has been called a total loss.

The Beaverdam Fire Department was called in to assist with the fire this early morning, fire crews were called back out again to the home when the fire rekindled later on that morning.
