This money will go a long way to help area seniors.
A $1,000 check presented to the Silver Birch Foundation from Shawnee Manor and HCF. The money coming from a reverse raffle held last week in support of the foundation's mission: to help senior citizens that have been victimized and/or scammed. This donation can go toward various items the seniors may need.
"It will be able to help them maybe get food or be able to get some legal documents that they have lost, like their birth certificate, or marriage license, or their Social Security card, something like that that they would need that was stolen from them. Maybe get them a down payment on a rental apartment or something like that. That one-thousand dollars can go a long way," said Mikie Ricker, AAA3 Marketing Coordinator.
