The organizers of the 4th of July Veterans Cruise-in presented a check to the Veterans Food Pantry of Northwest Ohio. The donation will provide much-needed food assistance to veterans, their spouses, and active-duty service personnel. The organizers were able to raise twelve hundred dollars through donations at the Veterans Cruise-in Car Show in Faurot Park as part of the Star Spangled Spectacular, and they are happy to help those who served.

For the last two years, the Lima City Schools have integrated a book vending machine at each school. Students earn coupons for their achievements in the classroom to get a book and it's theirs to take home. Altrusa International of Lima presented a check to the school today to purchase books for the machines throughout the district. They applied for a grant from Altrusa International Foundation for this project as it met their goals of improving literacy and service to the community.

Crime Victim Services has coordinated their 7th annual free credit check on Wednesday, November 30th. A total of five financial institutions and 18 branch locations in Allen and Putnam Counties are participating this year. The Better Business Bureau recommends checking your credit report twice a year, and this free credit check allows people to spot potential fraud and get a better idea of overall credit health.
Twice a year, the Kiwanis Club of Lima distributes funds from their annual fundraisers to divide among local organizations. Today twelve were honored for contributing to the well-being of children around Lima. After receiving the checks, a representative from each agency spoke to the club about their work and how the donation will be used. The Kiwanis Club says that it's important for them to support those who help children in our community.

Throughout the state of Ohio, inspectors have been checking equipment this week in order to ensure that everything is up to date to battle the upcoming winter season.
To help celebrate the Lima refinery's 135th anniversary, Cenovus kicked off their celebration by announcing a partnership and social investment in the Lima area. The company presented a $250,000 check to the Central District Maker Space. The Maker Space not only is a creative space for budding entrepreneurs and artists but also helps people gain the skills needed to become tradesmen that are much in demand by area companies like Cenovus.
