Thursday was the last day for Bluffton’s Police Chief.
Rick Skilliter began his law enforcement career in 1989 as a Bluffton police officer.
He was promoted to chief in 2006.
A retirement party was held at Bluffton’s Town Hall to give the public a chance to say goodbye.
Skilliter, who is only 48, has already started a second career, this one with Perry Corporation in Lima.
Sergeant Ryan Burkholder was sworn in Thursday as acting chief.
