LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A Lima business collected thousands of non-perishable food items to help address food insecurity in the region.
Sky Zone Lima and several volunteers boxed up around 2,200 canned goods for the Bread of Life Food Pantry inside St. Mark's Methodist Church in Lima. Between November 10th and 13th, Sky Zone patrons brought two canned goods as admission for a jump pass. With Sky Zone Lima's initiative to give back to the community, the food comes at a critical time as the bread of life food pantry has served around 167 families in just the past 10 days.
"All this will help feed so many families, because the numbers are just outrageous," said Hope Loud, co-director of the Bread of Life Food Pantry."
It's just so sad now, but this is such a blessing. It's awesome."
"We wanted to do something to give back, and I really think it was just amazing - I thought maybe we'd get three, 400 cans at the most, over 2000 kind of blew my mind," said Paul Briggs, general manager of Sky Zone Lima. "I didn't know where to put the things before we got it organized, but it's a good problem to have, and we're very excited to be able to do this."
The Bread of Life Food Pantry is open Mondays through Thursdays from 9 AM until 12 PM inside St. Mark's.
