LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Amazon announced Friday it will build a new delivery station in Shawnee Township, bringing a major logistics expansion to the Lima region.
The facility will sit on 25 acres along Jay Begg Parkway and measure just under 110,000 square feet. The company says the station will power the last mile of its delivery network, receiving packages from fulfillment centers, then sorting them for direct delivery to customers' doorsteps.
According to the Allen Economic Development Group (AEDG), the project is expected to create 25 to 30 full-time management positions and support hundreds of contracted drivers. Local officials say customers and businesses can expect faster delivery speeds, including next-day and potentially same-day service once the station opens.
"This region right now is really great for development, and it is because of our location, and obviously with Amazon, they want to be near I-75 and also just having land available and ready," said Cindy Leis, president and CEO of AEDG. "We've been working with them for over a year now, trying to make sure they're situated in the right position, and they decided, finally, this was it."
Leis says they hope to have the delivery station up and running by fall of 2026.
November 14, 2025, Press Release from Allen Economic Development Group:
LIMA, Ohio — Amazon is expanding its footprint in northwest Ohio with plans for a new delivery station in Shawnee Township, where construction is already underway on Jay Begg Parkway.
Economic development officials announced Friday that launch planning for the facility is in the early stages.
"This new delivery station represents an exciting opportunity to enhance our service capabilities in Lima and surrounding communities," said Kyle DeGiulio, Senior Manager of Economic Development for Amazon. "The strategic location and strong local workforce make Lima an ideal fit for our operations. We're grateful for the collaborative partnership with Allen Economic Development Group, the Port Authority of Allen County and the local leadership at the city, township and county and look forward to becoming an integral part of the Lima community."
Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith said the project highlights the region’s economic strength.
“Amazon’s investment reflects the strength and momentum of our regional economy,” Smith said. “This new delivery station will expand opportunities for our local workforce and demonstrates that well-known global brands see real value in growing right here in our community. We’re excited to see continued investment that supports jobs, innovation, and prosperity across the Lima region.”
Amazon says the new delivery station will support the company’s last-mile operations, moving packages from fulfillment and sortation centers to local employees who prepare them for final delivery directly to customers’ doors.
Allen County Commissioner Beth Seibert said local leaders are encouraged by Amazon’s commitment to the area, noting that “so many households and businesses in our community rely on Amazon for timely delivery of goods. Having a physical delivery station here in Allen County will directly benefit local delivery operations and create new job opportunities.”
The company reports it has created 36,500 full- and part-time jobs in Ohio and invested more than $49 billion statewide in infrastructure and employee compensation since 2010. Amazon says its average base wage for hourly employees in the United States is more than $22 per hour, with total compensation averaging more than $29 per hour when including elected benefits.
“Amazon’s investment underscores the strong confidence companies have in the Lima and Allen County region,” said Cindy Leis, President and CEO of the Allen Economic Development Group. “This project not only brings new jobs and investment but also enhances our growing logistics and distribution network. We’re proud to welcome a household name like Amazon to our community and add them to the diverse portfolio of businesses that call Lima, Ohio home.”
