St. Rita's favorite employee spreads joy wherever he goes, standing only three feet tall with four legs.
Dash makes a difference in many patients lives. Dash, St. Rita's therapy dog plays a huge role in St. Rita's Inpatient Rehab Program. Matt Owens, the director of the program and Dash's owner, said he experienced the world of therapy animals in several facilities he trained in. He thought having a therapy dog at St. Rita's would better serve the rehab program and enhance patients lives.
Dash works eight hour shifts, 4 days a week and also visits on patient floors as well as the hospice floor. Owens said many medical providers around the U.S. are adopting the idea of therapy animals to help with patient care.
