Participants of the Lima Summer Playground Program stopped by Ohio State Lima for fun and games Monday morning.
Students from Robb Avenue park and Faurot Park made arts and crafts, played wiffleball, participated in team building games, and got a closer look at the theater in Reed Hall on OSU Lima's campus.
The Summer Playground Program spends a few days at the campus every year, to give the students a chance to do activities they normally would not be able to do at the park over the summer as part of the program.
"The wiffleball is something that we don't actually do at the parks, just with the bats and precautions, and things like that, so getting to play that different type of game - many of them have never swung a bat - and they'll hit a home run, and it just mixes it up for them," said Sydney Zerante, program coordinator for the Summer Playground Program. "It's the same thing with the water balloons and making paper airplanes and the other simple things that a lot of us have done, but not things that they get to do every day with the Playground Program."
The Summer Playground Program runs until August 2nd.
