While Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the summer, June 20th is the official start of the season and people were taking full advantage of the beautiful weather.
The splashpad in St. Marys opened almost a year ago to the date, and it’s the perfect place to spend a hot summer day at like today. Families were spotted staying cool under the umbrellas while kids ran through the different obstacles on the splashpad.
Some of the kids were surprised to learn that today was the first official day of summer, but they shared some of their favorite things about the season.
Julie Fisher, who was at the splashpad on Sunday says, “It’s fun. I have no school, no homework, it’s just fun.”
Her sister Kiersten continues, “No tests, we can go to the pool, we can hang out with friends, it’s because you get to basically do whatever you want.”
The splash pad in St. Marys is open every day from 8 A.M. until nine at night, and will close for the season on Labor Day.
