Some ladies around the area got to enjoy a pink-themed tea party while learning how to protect themselves from a serious disease. St. Rita's and the Bradfield Community Center came together to host a tea party in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While the women enjoyed their tea and lighter fare, they learned more about a topic that affects millions of people. A medical oncologist from St. Rita's was invited to talk to the attendees about risk factors and early detection of breast cancer.
"You know there's never too much information about screening and what can be done to protect women from having breast cancer or to be diagnosed with breast cancer at an early age when it's very curable," said Dr. Ewa Mrozek,a medical oncologist at St. Rita's.
The doctor hopes this serves as a reminder to those in attendance and all women the importance having a mammogram.
