LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Hub at Central District is expanding its mission beyond serving just students, offering educational opportunities for people of all ages across the region.
On Wednesday, area school administrators gathered at The Hub to learn about recent changes to state report cards and new policies in career-technical education and advanced standing courses. The session highlighted how The Hub can support both schools and the broader community through innovative programs and resources.
Barbara Duval, curriculum supervisor for the Allen County Educational Service Center, said the facility is working to connect education, industry, and community engagement through hands-on opportunities.
“Right now, we’ve got a cybersecurity program that we’re working with the high schools,” Duval said. “We’re doing a manufacturing grant, including a lot of equipment from the amateur equipment. And then we’re starting the Second Saturdays, which will be activities for kindergarten through fourth grade, all based on career exploration.”
Duval added that these programs are only the beginning of what The Hub hopes to bring to Lima, Allen County, and the surrounding region, as it continues to expand its offerings in education and workforce development.
