Teachers state that the peer-to-peer relationship helps get students accustomed to helping one another, an aspect that teachers hope the students carry with them for the rest of their lives.

"Our fourth graders are the oldest students in our building and the preschoolers are the youngest in our building... I think it is a great leadership opportunity for them, especially since they will be leaving and going to middle school next year in the fifth grade," said Dawn Andrews, a 4th Grade teacher. "They can pair up with somebody who is just starting school and teach them the importance of reading and showing them how they can read."
