LIMA, OH (WLIO) - They aren't just for fun as they are a key way to get needed information to improve the health of families around the area.
Events like the "Healthy Families Expo" allow Activate Allen County to gather statistics and educate people on healthy lifestyle choices. It also gets individuals connected with services that may not have been available to them before this opportunity.
"We're providing a lot of folks with real screenings at these events that help connect them with services. So we're seeing more folks at our hospitals being able to access their family physicians, different screening services through this program. We also do a lot of surveying at these events. So part of our goal is to collect community data that we're then using for community health assessments and our community health improvement planning processes," explained Josh Unterbrink, Activate Allen County.
The expo is scheduled for Saturday, November 19th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Civic Center in Lima's town square. It's a free family-friendly event.
